SNIVEL, OR SLOW OPENING: A slow opening may be due to increasing canopy permeability. It will take quite a while before canopy is fully inflated. The visual cue is that the canopy opens very slowly, but the jumper will distinctly see the slider. The procedure to follow is to watch altitude as it decreases, to pull down twice on the rear risers and to release the main brakes. The jumper should cutaway and pull the reserve if the hard deck is reached before the slider comes down.
